The grape behind the name of Gray Monk, we have a soft spot for Pinot Gris.
Smooth, yet refreshing our Pinot Gris is an off-dry, slightly rich wine with great mouthfeel and texture. With a hint of copper hue (classic for the grape), expect flavours of juicy orchard fruits like pear and apple, along with hints of citrus and spice. A wonderful sipping wine enjoy with caramelized onion quiche, smoked salmon, perogies, baked fish dishes and chicken in cream sauces.
WINEMAKING Pinot Gris grapes were hand-picked from both our Estate Vineyard and from our long-standing growers for Gray Monk within the Okanagan Valley. The Pinot Gris grapes were given up to 12 hours of skin contact for added texture and mouthfeel, then gently pressed, cool fermented, and aged in stainless steel tanks for pure fruit expression.
FLAVOUR PROFILE This Pinot Gris is clear and bright with a copper hue. A pure fruit aroma of Bartlett pear, peach, and melon rise from the glass. This smooth yet refreshing, just off-dry, slightly rich, medium-bodied wine has great mouthfeel and texture, along with flavours of ripe juicy orchard fruits. Notes of melon, pear, peach, and a touch of citrus linger on the finish.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS A wonderful sipping wine. Enjoy with mushroom and onion quiche; smoked salmon dishes; perogies with fried bacon and sour cream; Tilapia baked with leeks and mushrooms; lightly spiced crab cakes; pan-fried fresh-water fish; pan-fried scallops; chicken in a light cream sauce; shrimp skewers; lightly spiced pork tenderloin; crown roast of pork; black bean dip with unsalted tortilla chips; salmon and cream cheese pin-wheels; hummus and pita chips.
